What is Thread Painting?

Thread painting is a unique art form that creates beautiful original hand-crafted pictures.
Each picture is created by hand using 100% cotton canvas upon which the image is "painted" with a sewing machine. The picture is built up by continuously moving the base through the sewing machine to produce a 3D texture.

I have been thread painting for over 20 years. It all began after I left college, I used to make my own clothes and I love painting as a hobby. While in the library I found a book on thread art, it was just the new hobby I was looking for putting sewing and painting together.Thread painting is a unique art form that creates beautiful, hand-crafted pictures. This attractive form of art media can create an original piece of artwork for your home; whether it's a picture of your house, pet or favorite place. All my thread paintings are photographs I have taken from places that I have visited mainly of The New Forest. Each picture is unique created by hand using 100% cotton canvas upon which the image is "painted" using embroidery threads in a zig-zag stitch. The picture is built up by continuously moving the base in a circular motion through the sewing machine to produce a 3D texture.If you have enjoyed a holiday with us then there is no better way to have a lovely memory of it hanging on your wall.
